How Much Does Aga Cleaning Cost, and What’s Involved?
Aga cleaning with us starts from £150, anywhere in our Lincolnshire and Nottinghamshire area, with no travel charge and nothing to pay until you’ve seen the finished clean. The final price depends on your model, how many ovens it has and what you’d like cleaning, and we confirm it with you before we book the visit, so there’s no surprise on the day.
Below is what goes into that price, what the visit involves and what you’ll need to do beforehand. If you’d rather skip straight to a number, pick the AGA option in our instant quote calculator.
What affects the price of an Aga clean
An Aga isn’t a standard oven with a bigger door. It’s a cast-iron cooker with several ovens, two hotplates and heavy chrome lids, and every model is laid out a little differently. That’s why we price from £150 rather than giving one flat figure. Four things move the price:
- The model. A two-oven Aga is a smaller job than a four or five-oven cooker with a warming plate.
- The number of ovens. Each compartment has to be cleaned separately, so more ovens means more time.
- What you want covered. We agree the surfaces, ovens and removable parts with you before the visit.
- Extras. If there’s an extractor above the Aga, we can do it on the same visit for £15 (small) or £35 (large).
The quickest way to a firm price is to send us the make, the model and a photo. A photo of any stubborn areas helps too. From that we can confirm exactly what the clean covers and what it costs.
What’s involved in an Aga clean
Because an Aga is hot all the time, it tends to burn off a lot of what’s spilled in the ovens. The grime that builds up instead is on the parts you see every day: the enamel top and front, the chrome hotplate lids, the door linings and the handles. That’s where most of the visible difference comes from.
Before the appointment we’ll agree which parts are being cleaned, so you know what to expect. On the day, Aaron or Steve works through those areas, tidies up as they go and shows you the result before you pay. Allow around 2.5 to 3 hours or more, depending on the size of the cooker. You don’t have to watch, but most people like to see it at the end.
Enamel needs a gentle hand. Abrasive pads and harsh sprays can dull or scratch it, which is one reason Aga owners tend to leave the deep clean to someone who does it regularly. If there’s staining, chipping or a worn patch you’re worried about, send us a close-up and we’ll tell you honestly what cleaning can and can’t do for it.
Cleaning, not servicing
An Aga clean is a cleaning appointment. It isn’t a service and it isn’t a repair. If your Aga has a fault, isn’t holding its heat or is due a service, that’s a job for an Aga engineer. Tell us about it when you book so the two don’t get mixed up, and we can plan the clean around the engineer’s visit if that suits you better.
Getting your Aga ready for the visit
Your Aga needs to be cool enough to work on, and how long that takes varies a lot between models. Some can be switched off the evening before; older, always-on cookers can take many hours to cool right down. Please don’t go by a generic cooling time you’ve read online. When we book you in, we’ll tell you exactly when to turn yours off for your model, so you can plan meals around it.
You don’t need to clean it first. Clear the top and the area around it, and that’s all we need.
Is a professional Aga clean worth £150?
For most Aga owners, yes, once a year or so. An Aga is usually the most expensive thing in the kitchen and the first thing people look at. Doing it yourself means hours of careful work on enamel and chrome that marks easily, with the cooker off for most of a day either way. If you’ve got a conventional range cooker rather than an Aga, our range cooker cleaning page has the prices for those, from £120 for a 2-door.
